First, if you ticked the "watch journals" on your watch list, you're going to get 2 journals for every one new one I post. This is because I want to keep the journal area as a permission's board. Just to warn you.
And, yes, I think I've overdone the issue a wee bit. But I want to make it clear. Apologies, my fellow watchers. This will be the license/journal combo.
----------
LICENSE ON ALL WORKS:The below only applies if the description does not contradict this statement in any way. Check the description to be sure. It will always be a footer.
The term "work" corresponds to all journal entries, "deviations", and comments of the user LtDonny on the deviantART website.
I, D. Johnson, the sole owner of all works on this deviantART account, release
all such works to the public domain, except those whose specific descriptions state otherwise. I understand that all may use any part of any of my works to do anything, even for commercial purposes. I reserve no rights to any of my works on this account, unless the description states otherwise. I realize I cannot revoke this once done.
In addition, I wish to make clear that attribution of any work is
not an obligation. I do like it if you do, but it is not a requirement, moral, legal, or otherwise.
----------
Reasons for this:I do not like copyright law as it stands now. While I shall abide by it, I wish to change it. This will be in a subtle way by taking the other side of the extreme. Instead of grounding a copyright to everything, I waive it off of everything. This promotes anybody who wishes to use it, whether it be the below-average Jim to the wealthy corporate Bill.
I don't really expect to make money for my work. Even so, if I wanted to make money, I can charge for releasing it if it ever came to that. Money really isn't that important to me, and I can care less if anyone wants to exploit me. It just leads honest people in fear and, in rare cases stress. And if the copyright holder actually wants to pursue infringement, it's quite stressful on both parties, but more rewarding for the holder.
----------
What I can and cannot release as public domain:I can't release any currently copyrighted work into the public domain unless I can find a way to weasel it into
fair use (17 U.S.C. 107). And I may do such if I find a work under a license very unethically restricting (to me). However, not being a lawyer, I am going to practice some degree of caution.
I can release works into the public domain as long as I have the permissions of all parties involved with the coopyrighted work. I can also release works that are from the federal government as well. Also, I regularly browse public domain photo and picture sites to use in my future projects, so this doesn't limit me to a narrow scope of things.
----------
The Future:Who knows? Maybe copyright will lessen, maybe it will get more strict. I predict that my releases will continue to be public domain no matter what copyrights of the future exist. I strongly encourage all comment, criticism, and use of anything on this account. If I do find a substantial amount of works do not become public domain because of permission issues, I might open up a different account for those ones only.
----------
Other:If you want to give me permission to use a work and submit it out as public domain, I shall. Message me, if you want. For the most part, I don't like going up to people and asking.
----------
Thanks:This is where I put my eternal credits for works. Just 'cause I release public domain doesn't mean I dislike crediting to someone.
-night-fate (

and

) for the stock photo on Fire and Brimstone (
